Zagreb Construction builds more than just quality buildings. We build relationships, from sub-contractors to architects, to owners. Our dedication to delivering only the best solutions through collaborative efforts makes Zagreb Construction your partner, not just another builder.

Throughout Zagreb's 35 years, there have been many challenging projects that demanded exceptional construction ability. Two of these were a museum/library addition to the Chinese Cultural Centre in Vancouver's Chinatown and the LingYenMountainTemple in Richmond both had very challenging designs as is shown in the photos

Joe Wai of Joe Y. Wai Architects designed the museum / library complex and states, "A very good job was done by Zagreb. It was an unusual job and they had to adjust to special conditions as they arose.  There were also some unusual materials in some cases. They responded well to the challenge and their people were very good to work with."
Don Vaughan of Vaughan Landscape Planning and Design recalls, "The building was constructed beautifully and our task was to take and existing tremendous garden and work  to integrate that with a new one.  Now there is an outstanding garden to complement the building.  Everyone on the project worked together very well and the client is very satisfied."

Dennis Bralic particularly enjoyed the LingYenMountainTemple project.  "It was very unusual.  The people, the design and the dynamics involved required a different approach than you find on a typical construction Project.  The clients ultimately were the monks that would use this place of worship.  Some of the monks would visit our supplies, such as Clearbrook Iron Works where the roof was fabricated.  As they did not speak English, and decisions were made as a group, they had a project manager with whom we worked closely."

Jeffrey Lin, the project manager for the Association of the LingYenMountainTemple comments, "The client looked at several contractors, with an emphasis on price and experience.  I saw the Chinese Cultural Centre in Chinatown built by Zagreb.  After talking with the architect for that building, we chose Zagreb Construction. They are very professional as builders and during the process, there were many change requests by both the owner and the City of Richmond.  It is a building in the traditional Chinese style and Zagreb worked hard to meet our expectations."  The finished temple has turned out beautifully.  Thomas Leung, the structural consultant for the LingYenMountainTemple adds, "Our experience with Zagreb Construction is our first and we have found them to professional, very competent and courteous to work with."

Zagreb also has an extensive list of schools that they have either built as new buildings or on which they have done extensive renovations.

KitsilanoSecondary School was a $2 million renovation project that Zagreb Construction had under contract.  The project called for a Safety and Accessibility upgrade, which meant new elevator shafts, concrete doorways, new stairwells and offices.  As this is one of Vancouver's oldest schools, it took an experienced builder to undertake this project.   Les, the superintendent states, "This is a really tight schedule. We have six weeks before the students arrive, so we must be well organized and have full cooperation of our trades.  Fortunately we have worked with many of the trades for a long time so they really come through for us which is critical as so many of our projects are quite challenging, either in terms of design or tight schedules."

All of the professional consultants and trades commented on the willingness of everyone at Zagreb to work cooperatively and without confrontation.  Shail Mahanti of Mahanti/Chu Engineering Ltd., Electrical Engineers on the HillcrestMiddle School renovation states enthusiastically, "Zagreb is really good to deal with.  We are very happy with the progress on this project."

Jack Robinson of Pinnacle Electric has worked with the Bralics for 20 years and finds them "very good to work with, always organized and fair in their dealings."  Robert Jenkins, Barrister & Solicitor of Jenkins Marzban Logan has provided legal services to Zagreb for 25 years and observes, "They like to solve any problems responsibly and fairly.  A good sign is hat they don't call me often.  There have been no problems caused by Zagreb in my experience.  The type of problems they may have would be remote to them.  Maybe a subcontractor who has had some difficulty with the supplier.  I am impressed that they want to make sure their own people are well informed on potential legal issues - this is a sign of a responsible contractor.  Dan and Dennis are both honorable men who genuinely want to serve their clients' best interests."
